21 May 2013, Reston, VA, United States - Lieutenant General (Ret) Robert T. Dail, Supreme Group’s Chief Commercial Officer, has recently been awarded the second-category Order of Viesturs, the highest state honor for Latvia. The award was presented by Andris Berzinš, the President of Latvia, in recognition of Mr Dail’s outstanding public service to Latvia, and his support for non-military cargo transit from Latvia to Afghanistan during his former role as the Director of the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency (DLA).
The Order of Viesturs is a Latvian State Order of the Guards of the Fatherland, established in commemoration of the might of Latvia in ancient times. The military award is given to those who have achievements in training the armed forces, maintaining public order, in protecting the country’s borders, and in teaching the country’s residents about statehood.
The other recipients of the award included United States Air Force General William Fraser, Commander of the U.S. Transportation Command, who was bestowed the first-category Order of Viesturs; as well as U.S. Defense Logistics Agency Director Vice Admiral Mark Harnitchek, who received the second-category Order of Viesturs. The awards were conferred during an event held recently in Riga, Latvia.
“I am very honored to receive this award, and I extend sincere thanks to the President, the Government and the people of Latvia on this special occasion. I also congratulate General Fraser and Vice Admiral Harnitchek on their achievements,” Lieutenant General (Ret) Dail concluded.
